Business history award

The GUG annualy awards the Business History Award for outstanding dissertations, postdoctoral qualifications and monographs concerning business history that has to be published in the series of the ZUG by the publishing house C.H. Beck. The prize is valued at € 3000.

The jury consists of the professors Toni Pierenkemper, Margit Szöllösi-
Janze, Patrick Fridenson and Werner Plumpe as responsible editor of the ZUG. Further details will be given by the CEO Dr. Andrea H. Schneider.

The awards ceremony takes place at the respective Public Lectures of the GUG.


The winner of the Business History Award 2014 is:

For the Business History Award 2014 there are two awardees. Awardees are Eva-Maria Roelevink for „Organisierte Intransparenz: Das Kohlensyndikat und der niederländische Markt 1915 – 1932“ and Karsten Voss for „Das Entwicklungsprojekt Saint-Domingue unter den Sklavenhandelsmonopolen von 1697 bis 1715: Sklaven als Ware und Kapital“.

Additionally, Sabine Christina Donauer was awarded second prize for „Emotions at Work - Working on Emotions: The Production of Economic Selves in Twentieth-Century Germany”.
